Job Description

A postdoctoral fellowship is available in the laboratory of Dr. Alan Smrcka to study the roles of G protein coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling in cardiac disease, inflammatory disease or cancer. The laboratory has uncovered novel signal transduction pathways regulated by GPCRs that underlie disease processes in many cell types and has developed novel tools for genetic and pharmacologic manipulation of these pathways. The ideal candidate has a background in biochemistry or cell biology, an expertise in any of the following areas: Protein chemistry/purification, molecular biology or cellular imaging, and at least one first author publication in a good quality journal.

The laboratory uses a broad range of methodologies that offers the opportunity for training in multiple disciplines. We are also highly productive and well funded and committed to development of students and postdoctoral fellows for successful scientific careers.

The University of Rochester School of Medicine is in upstate New York in the small but vibrant city of Rochester, NY. Rochester is a highly livable community with access to outdoor activities and a strong cultural environment without the hassles of big city living.

Interested applicants should submit a cover letter, complete CV, and contact information of three references to Alan Smrcka (Alan_Smrcka@urmc.rochester.edu). Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. The University of Rochester is committed to diversity and equality in education and employment.
