Applications are invited for a post-doctoral position (two and a half years - fixed term) in the area of advanced fibre laser research in the Department of Physics at The University of Auckland, working with Associate Professor Neil Broderick’s research group in photonics.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a PhD in physics or a related discipline. The successful candidate will be expected to be able to both design, model and build femtosecond fibre laser systems and to be familiar with chirped pulsed amplifications schemes for extending their peak power. Other welcome attributes include a strong track record of delivering successful outcome in scientific research, excellent teamwork, communication and presentation skills, and an accurate and independent approach to research.

Candidates must have proven track records of research and skills in laser and photonics research and a substantive record of publications in high impact journals. The successful candidate, is expected to contribute to the supervision of graduate students. The project is funded by The University of Auckland, and the group is well resourced in terms of laboratory equipment and materials.

The role will be expected to contribute to the department’s teaching activities, and opportunities for other professional development will be made available during the course of the fellowship.
