摘要:

Post-doctoral Research Associate x 2 (Fixed Term)

University of Cambridge - Department of Biochemistry

Location: Central Cambridge

Post-doctoral Research Associates, two positions available: Genome-wide approaches to study transcription.

These opportunities arise through Professor Jussi Taipale commencing as the new Herchel Smith Professor of Biochemistry. The Taipale group based in the University of Cambridge, Department of Biochemistry, Central Cambridge will continue to work on transcriptional regulation; specifically, to understand how DNA sequences determine where and when genes are expressed. This effort will support the group in their second systems-level research area of elucidating control of tissue and organism growth. The research of the group will have impact on both the fundamental understanding of the regulation of gene expression, and on knowledge of the mechanisms that control cell growth during normal development and in pathologies such as cancer.

As part of the phased development of the Taipale group in Cambridge there are four positions initially available, two of which are Genome-wide approaches to study transcription.

The main duties will involve designing and performing genome-scale experiments in the area of regulation of gene expression and computational analysis of experimental results.

The successful candidates should have (or be close to completion) a PhD in Genetics, Biochemistry, Systems Biology, Computational Biology, Medicine or a related field. Applicants interested in any of the above research areas and/or interested in developing a novel research direction will be considered.

The selection processes will be conducted in June and the posts be available from 1st September 2018.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 24 months in the first instance.
