This post is fixed term for 24 Months
We seek an outstanding academic clinician with experience in paediatrics and clinical genetics to take up a two-year post jointly funded by SIDB, The Patrick Wild Centre and NHS South East Scotland Regional Genetics Service R&D fund at the University of Edinburgh. Your work will involve developing an informatics approach to the accurate and high-throughput extraction of diagnostically useful information from relatively unstructured documents about individual cases with rare and ultra-rare neurodevelopmental disease. An essential requirement of the position is a strong background in clinical feature coding and mutation nomenclature. This post will work closely with a concurrently-recruited post doctoral fellow in informatics.
You should have a medical degree, MRCP(Paeds) and significant clinical experience in clinical genetics. You will work to help develop a new resourse for computational phenomic analysis of genetically determined severe neurodevelopmental disorders. A strong interest in computational science would be valuable. The role will also entail responsibilities in contributing to research at Edinburgh by writing publications in high-impact factor journals in collaboration with the supervisors. We seek a highly self-motivated clinician who will play an active role in IGMM, SIDB and MRC HGU academic communities.
The start date is 01 September 2018.
Closing Date for applications is 08 June 2018.
