KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Contributing to funding research proposals, including the preparation of comparative research,

- Writing publications relevant to CAPS's research focuses and publishing papers in top ranking journals;

- Assisting CAPS staff and affiliated researchers with the execution of projects including conferences, training, summer schools and other similar efforts;

- Helping liaise with researchers elsewhere on comparative experiences;

- Teaching undergraduate as well as postgraduate students in the field of specialization - up to 300 hours per academic year;

- Providing topical information on the web site and elsewhere to promote the achievements of the CAPS;

- Assisting the project director in administrative duties.

ESSENTIALS KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE



Knowledge:

- Ph.D degree and background in political science (anthropology, sociology)

- Knowledge of the following is an advantage: social and political comparative research, including issues of migration, nationalism, ethnic and other conflicts; applied quantitative methods in political science.



Skills:

- Outstanding research and writing skills in the field of specialization, as demonstrated by publications.

- Good knowledge of the English language. Any of the following languages would be an advantage for scholars seeking a position in the sociological, historical or political field: Chinese, Korean, Japanese or other oriental language. While not essential, Russian is an advantage.

- A knowledge of software relevant to the discipline is essential for all applicants.



Experience:

- Proven ability to undertake a self-directed research project.

- Strong potential for international publication records (publications in Scopus/Web of Science).

- Flexibility, enthusiasm and an ability to work as part of a close-knit team.

- Expertise in areas that align with research conducted under CAPS, in particular in economic development of the Russian Far East, Russian migration policy, international trade and cooperation with Asia-Pacific countries, etc.
