摘要:

Postdoctoral Research Scientist
Starting salary is £30,751 per annum to £34,166 per annum
(depending on experience)

The Babraham Institute is a charity which is world renowned for its research in life sciences to enhance lives and improve wellbeing.

We wish to recruit a highly motivated and innovative Postdoctoral Research Scientist to investigate epigenetic patterning in oocytes and how chromatin programmes gene expression states in the embryo, such as imprinting. The project follows recent insights into the role of transcription in patterning epigenetic states in the oocyte, and the identification of the mechanisms underlying atypical histone modification patterns in oocytes.

The project will focus on how chromatin states are established during oogenesis and their impact on transcriptional regulation. It will investigate the extent of and mechanisms underlying the persistence of oocyte-derived chromatin states in the embryo, and how this leads to differential imprinting in embryonic and extraembryonic lineages.

These questions will be investigated through a combination of approaches, including innovative, low- and single-cell genome-wide analysis, genetic and epigenetic editing, and also through manipulation of specific loci. Much of the work will be in mouse models, but we expect to explore parallels in human oocytes and embryos.

The successful applicant will join an interactive, multidisciplinary team in the Epigenetics Programme in the laboratory of Dr Gavin Kelsey. For more information on the work of the Kelsey’s group, please visithttps://www.babraham.ac.uk/our-research/epigenetics/gavin-kelsey/.

The ideal candidate must have a PhD in genetics, developmental biology, molecular biology or related biological discipline. The post holder must have excellent working knowledge of epigenetics and experience in generation of genome-wide datasets. Experience in low- or single-cell epigenomic methods is highly desirable to be successful in this role.

Funding for this position is available for up to 3 years in the first instance.
