The College of Medical and Dental Sciences has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Flow Cytometry Technical Specialist to join its core facility.

The University of Birmingham has recently made a large strategic investment in flow cytometry facilities within the College of Medical and Dental Sciences. The central facility comprises 2x BD FACS Aria Fusion sorters, 2x BD Fortessa flow cytometers, 1x Beckman Coulter Cyan flow cytometer and  2x Beckman Coulter Cytoflex flow cytometers located within the Institute of Biomedical Research. Alongside this expansion we are recruiting two new Flow Cytometry Specialists to support this facility, with a lower grade Flow Cytometry Specialist Technician post also available.

This role of Flow Cytometry Technical Specialist is to support, provide management and training for the facility based in Medical and Dental Sciences, whilst working collaboratively to drive the University of Birmingham’s Enabling Technology initiative forward.

The successful applicant will hold a degree in a relevant scientific subject or an equivalent professional qualification and in-depth current specialist knowledge, extensive and substantial proven practical experience of Flow Cytometry, Cell Sorting and associated analysis. Previous experience of similar laboratory based work is essential, along with customer service and organisational skills, and willingness to work towards professional registration.

Full time starting salary is normally in the range £29,799 to £38,832. With potential progression once in post to £41,212 a year.
