　　This post is for a highly motivated individual wishing to join the Water and Environmental Management Research Centre (WEMRC) as a Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA). The PDRA will work on a project jointly funded by British Council in the UK and Science and Technology Development Fund (STDF) in Egypt. The purpose of this role is to study climate change adaptation to manage the risks of extreme hydrological and weather events for food security in vulnerable West Nile Delta. The researcher will have the following responsibilities:

　　1) to map the impact of Climate Change for the area;

　　2) to develop a rainfall runoff model that meets the requirement of integrated flood risk management;

　　3) to develop an integrated system for Future Flood Explorer (FFE) for the entire area;

　　4) to explore the future change in flood risk;

　　5) to execute in a pilot area an early warning system for extreme events caused by heavy rainfall.

　　The researcher will liaise with the collaborating partners in Egypt, make frequent fields trips in the study regions in Egypt, collect and analyse hydrometeorological information, study flood mitigation measures, and implement an early warning system in the pilot study site.

　　The appointed researcher will be expected to participate in day-to-day activities in WEMRC, including mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, and engaging the vibrant and collaborative research environment of the centre. As part of your research role, the researcher will have some administrative duties.
