Postdoctoral Fellow: Cancer Epigenetics : Dallas, United States

A postdoctoral position is available for immediate recruitment for a highly motivated candidate to join a team of researchers at the Baylor Research Institute and Sammons Cancer Center, Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas, TX, USA. The laboratory headed by Dr. Ajay Goel, PhD and C. Richard Boland, M.D. focuses on understanding the interplay between genetic, epigenetic and alterations in noncoding RNAs in gastrointestinal cancers.

This position involves studies surrounding work in the fast developing field of epigenetics and noncoding RNA research. More specifically, the projects will involve;

a) Exploration of the role of DNA methylation, histone modifications and non-coding RNAs (miRNA, LncRNAs, SnoRNAs etc.) in gastrointestinal cancer biology.
b) Establishment of innovative methodologies for the development of epigenetic and non-coding RNAs-based biomarkers for the earlier diagnosis, prognosis and predictive responses to chemotherapy in gastrointestinal neoplasia.
c) A better understanding of the translational and clinical role of genetic and epigenetic signatures in gastrointestinal cancers.
d) Studies involving chemoprevention of gastrointestinal cancers by various dietary interventions.

An ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. or a M.D. degree (Gastroenterology, Oncology, or similar) with a strong background in biochemistry and molecular biology, and relevant experience in cancer epigenetics and/or cancer chemoprevention. The candidates with prior hands-on experience in state-of-the-art methods such as Next Generation Sequencing (genomic, RRBS/MeDip and RNASeq, IonTorrent etc.), array-based methylome/ miRNA/ gene expression analysis, bisulfite pyrosequencing, methylation specific real-time PCRs and microRNA work will be given preference. Knowledge and experience with various bioinformatic and biostatistical analysis tools will be highly preferred. The candidate must possess excellent writing and communication skills, a solid record of peer-reviewed publications, commitment to drive scientific projects, motivation for independent research and ability to deliver on agreed objectives.

The position is available for 2-3 years with the potential for extension. Salary is commensurate with experience. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a description of their research experience and career goals, along with names of three references via email to:
