Postdoctoral Fellow Position in Chemical Biology: Newark, Delaware, United States

A Postdoctoral Fellow position is immediately available at University of Delaware, Dept. of Chemistry & Biochemistry to investigate protein ubiquitination and deubiquitination using a chemical biology approach.  Modification of cellular proteins by ubiquitin and ubiquitin-like proteins plays an essential role in a number of biological processes.  New pathways regulated by ubiquitin have been discovered in virtually every important aspect of cell biology, including DNA damage repair/tolerance, signal transduction, and chromatin dynamics.  We are investigating the ubiquitination and deubiquitination processes in the DNA damage response by developing new chemical approaches and probes targeting the various proteins and enzymes in the biological system.  Recent work in the PI’s lab includes chemical protein polyubiquitination, small molecule DUB inhibitors and ubiquitin-based DUB probes.  To learn more see http://zhuanggroup.chem.udel.edu/.

To qualify for the position, the candidate must have attained a PhD in organic chemistry, chemical biology, or medicinal chemistry and possess significant synthetic organic chemistry skills.  Past experience in protein chemistry and bioconjugation is desirable, but not required.
