Position Highlights

We are searching for multiple postdoctoral research associates to join the laboratory of Dr. Russell S. Witte, PhD in the Department of Radiology and Image Sciences at the University of Arizona (Tucson, AZ). The successful candidate will assume a lead role in phase change ultrasound (PCUS) imaging technology, combining ultrasound with nanotechnology to map the lymphatic system. The successful applicant will work closely with a team of scientists and engineers to develop, evaluate, and validate PCUS and associated contrast agents in bench-top and in vivo testbeds as a major steppingstone towards a new modality for imaging the human lymphatic system.

Duties & Responsibilities

Develop imaging protocols using a programmable ultrasound platform (Verasonics or Vevo F2)

Apply advanced principles in US signal processing and beamforming

Formulate and characterize nanoparticles and contrast agents

Conduct experiments in flow systems, tissue-mimicking phantoms, biological tissue, or animals

Produce high quality publications and mentor team

of graduate and undergraduate students

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Fluency in English with excellent writing and presentation skills

Candidate shall be self-motivated, able to work independently in a multidisciplinary environment

Minimum Qualifications

PhD in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical

Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Optical Sciences or related field

At least three publications in biomedical

imaging, advanced signal processing, and/or nanotechnology

At least four years' experience

working with hardware and instrumentation

Preferred Qualifications

A track record of quality publications in biomedical imaging, ultrasound, signal processing, and/or nanotechnology

Experience with open platform ultrasound system like the Verasonics Vantage/NXT or Visualsonics F2/VADA

4+ years' experience with bioinstrumentation (e.g., oscilloscope, function generator, scanner)

4+ years' experience in MatlabTM/C++/Python

2+ years' experience with acoustic modeling software (k-Wave, FOCUS, Field II)

2_ years' formulating and characterizing nanoparticles or contrast agents

Experience with super-resolution ultrasound, US localization microscopy, photoacoustic imaging, elasticity imaging, pulse encoding, solving inverse problems, machine learning, AI, SolidWorks, 3D printing
