Are you eager to contribute to an ambitious, high-impact project advancing sustainability through remanufacturing in a circular economy context?

DTU is recruiting for multiple positions to join a newly established National Centre for Remanufacturing – reManuFactory.

As part of the reManuFactory project, funded by the Danish Industry Foundation, you will collaborate closely with research assistants, Postdocs, and academic staff to develop cutting-edge methodologies. The research is cross-disciplinary, combining advanced quantitative analysis, simulation, and systems integration. Your work will be central to achieving the project’s ambitious academic, industrial and societal impact goals.

DTU Construct is seeking a Postdoc to contribute to the digital transformation of remanufacturing, integrating development and optimisation of production processes, process and material modelling, and remanufacturing of taken bake products.

Responsibilities and qualifications

You will join the Section of Manufacturing Engineering at DTU Construct, working within a multidisciplinary, international, and diverse team. In a world where circular economy and remanufacturing are seen as key to ensuring radically reduced resource consumption, improved climate impact, improved industrial and societal resilience, and heightened competitive edge, we are seeking a sharp, highly motivated and collaborative colleague for this position, able to partake the following primary tasks:

Model remanufacturing effects on materials (thermoplastics and metals) properties and processability – both data-driven and multi-physics modelling

Establish a properties database for remanufacturing materials (thermoplastics and metals)

Develop models for remanufacturing processes to account for properties of back taken products – data-driven and physics-based models

Optimise manufacturing processes (e.g., injection moulding, additive manufacturing) for remanufactured materials ready for back taken products with variability in properties and materials processing

Develop methods and procedures for utilising the digital passport concept in a remanufacturing framework

Translate industrial needs into effective and efficient remanufacturing solutions

Collaborate across work packages and with academic and industry partners

Disseminate results through publications and stakeholder engagement

Your primary qualifications are:

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field

Experience in digital manufacturing, optimisation of production processes, process simulation

Strong modelling, both multi-physics and data driven, skills

Structured, analytical, and user-focused

Proven ability to work across disciplines and collaborate with industrial and academic partners

Strong motivation, independence, and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset

Experience in disseminating research through scientific publications and conferences is considered an expectation

You will be assessed against the responsibilities and qualifications stated above and the following general criteria:

Research experience

Research vision and potential

International impact and experience

Communication, collaboration, and interdisciplinary skills

Salary and terms of employment

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
