PRIMARY DETAIL

Seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with a strong and growing track record in health equity and qualitative research to better understand experiences and outcomes associated with virtual models of care in the Australian health system

THE ROLE

·  Salary Package: From $81,581 - $109,852 Base Salary (Level A) plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading. Pro-rata rates apply for part-time appointments.

·  Appointment type: Full-time, fixed-term position for 2 years (0.8 FTE appointments may be considered)

·  Location: Macquarie University (Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde)

The Role

Virtual models of care (i.e. consultation by telephone, video-conferencing and remote-monitoring of health conditions supported by digital patient information and wearable devices) can improve access to services, patient experience, efficiency and health outcomes whilst reducing costs of care compared to face-to-face care. Integration of virtual models with face-to-face care across the Australian health system is identified as a national priority to create and sustain a healthy nation in the context of longer life, chronic and complex conditions, and Australia's vast geographic population distribution.

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with a track record in conducting qualitative research studies to join the Smarter Hospitals Project. The project aims to better understand the opportunities of virtual care and embed hybrid and virtual models of care in the Australian health system. Specifically, the role will use realist evaluation to explore for whom virtual care is working and in what contexts, with a focus on equitable access to services.

The project involves close collaboration with a range of health system and service partners. Work will be carried out onsite at Macquarie University (MQ), and across health districts in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland.

The successful candidate will be required to:

·  Develop and execute study protocols for qualitative research studies using review, interview and focus group methods

·  Lead the development of research manuscripts, presentations and reports for health agencies of qualitative and mixed methods evidence

·  Engage with project partners and stakeholders including consumers and manage stakeholder relationships effectively, with strong written and verbal communication skills.

About You

As a researcher with a highly regarded profile relative to your experience, you will support a core component of the Smarter Hospitals Project research. You will bring your excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills to work closely with our stakeholders, including healthcare policy makers, healthcare executives, clinicians, and consumers, to ensure that Project aims are met. You will model behaviours that align with the Macquarie University vision and values and foster these in your team, with research students and the broader community to create an inclusive and high- performance culture.
