Job Description

Summary

The Patras Lab at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to assist with funded research projects focusing on host-microbe interactions of the urogenital tract. The Patras Lab studies host and bacterial factors, including urogenital pathogens and the vaginal microbiota, in the context of urinary tract infection, maternal-neonatal health, and bacterial pathogenesis. Research activities will include molecular microbiology, tissue and organoid culture, RNA-sequencing, microbiome analyses, and experimental studies in mice.

Job Duties

·         Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments.

·         Conducts laboratory procedures: molecular microbiology, tissue culture experiments, and mouse procedures.

·         Collects, compiles, and analyzes data.

·         Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.

·         Documents methods and results of experiments to ensure that work can be replicated by others.

·         Selects, evaluates and applies techniques used in routine research.

·         Writes manuscript to report the findings.

·         Attends department seminar and other scientific events.

Minimum Qualifications

·         MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.

·         No experience required.
