Offer Description

We are currently seeking to recruit a post-doctoral researcher at the CESP research center (Centre de Recherche en Epidémiologie et Santé des Populations, Villejuif, France; https:// cesp.inserm.fr/) to work with the “High-dimensional Biostatistics” (director, Pascale Tubert-Bitter) and “Exposome and Heredity” (director, Gianluca Severi) teams.

The aim of the project, funded by the French National Cancer Institute (INCa), is to better quantify the attributable risk of breast cancer associated with the use of menopausal hormone therapy (MHT). The successful candidate will develop sophisticated analyses of the MHT use and breast cancer association, implementing recency-weighted cumulative models and causal inference methods, in the French E3N cohort (www. e3n.fr/about-e3n-study). He/she will also be involved in descriptive analyses of MHT use in other European populations, e.g., using data from the French healthcare database (SNDS) and UK BioBank. The knowledge acquired on patterns of MHT exposure will be useful to help design a simulation plan with respect to methodological developments conducted by our project partner at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC).

Applicants should have a PhD in Epidemiology or Biostatistics and good programming skills in SAS, Stata and/or R. Training in survival analysis and causal methods would be an asset, as well as previous experience with the SNDS or any other drug reimbursement or prescription database.

The selected candidate will work in close collaboration with scientists with expertise in epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology, biostatistics, hormonal treatments and cancer. The position includes leading statistical analysis and manuscript writing in collaboration with the research team. The selected candidate will be encouraged to present the findings of the project at scientific conferences.

The postdoctoral opportunity is for 18 months. Salary will be based on qualifications and experience according to Inserm standards.

The earliest start date is October 2nd, 2023, but we will consider later start dates for competitive candidates.
