This 12-month (calendar year) special appointment will be involved in exciting and highly integrated multi-disciplinary research projects, understanding the molecular principles and pharmacological properties of transmembrane signaling in human health and diseases. We employ a range of structural and biophysical approaches, including time-resolved cryo-EM, patch- clamp electrophysiology, and other biochemical methods. Please see our recent publications for examples of our approaches: Nature 552, 200-204 (2017); Nature 562, 145-149 (2018); eLife.50175 (2019); bioRxiv 2023.03.16.533055 (2023). Our cryo-EM studies are supported by the cryo-EM core facility at UNL, which houses a 200kV Glacios with Falcon 4i direct electron detector, and the Holland Computing Center, which hosts over 1,000 high-performance computing nodes.

In addition to the above-described duties, the individual will be expected to accept committee assignments, reporting responsibilities, and other special ad hoc assignments as requested at the administrative unit, college/division, institute, and/or university level.

The apportionment is 100% research. This position will be located in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Minimum Required Qualifications

·  Ph.D. in biochemistry or a related discipline.

·  Proven track record in molecular cloning, cell culture, protein expression and purification.

· Demonstrated passion for understanding the structural mechanisms of transmembrane protein and complexes.

Preferred Qualifications

·  Experience in biochemistry or structural biology (cryo-EM or x-ray crystallography).
