Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:

The postdoctoral appointee must have recently (within the last eight years) been awarded a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., Sc.D., M.D.)

The postdoctoral fellow should possess a doctoral degree in a field relevant to suicide prevention, military health, and/or quantitative methods. Fields of interest include, but are not limited to, public health, psychology, sociology, social work, prevention science, statistics/decision sciences, epidemiology, and/or community health.

Demonstrated experience and interest in mental health, suicide prevention, and/or military health, as demonstrated through any or all of the following:

A record of scholarly publication and presentation in these areas.

Suicide or military lived experience (e.g., active duty military service).

Work experience in mental health, suicide prevention and/or military health focused settings.

Experience in quantitative methods, as demonstrated through any or all of the following:

Competency in statistical programs, such as SPSS, R, STATA, or MPlus.

A record of publication including data cleaning (e.g., multiple imputation) and analysis experience.

Familiarity with virtual data collection platforms (e.g., RedCap, Qualtrics)

Comfort and demonstrated ability in all of the following:

Written and oral communication.

A team science model.

Collaborative approach to research and training.

Initiative, independence, and integrity.

Ability to work on sensitive subject matter in a mature manner.

Duties and Responsibilities

The holder of this postdoctoral fellowship has the opportunity to join an exciting three-site collaborative! The position holder will run the day-to- day operations for a Department of Defense (DoD) funded randomized controlled trial (RCT) of Group Brief Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (G-BCBT) for Suicide Prevention with active duty military personnel. The holder will also work with UNC Charlotte and collaborating suicide prevention scholars to develop their independent line of research. Percent effort of independent research can be negotiated based on the candidate's interests.

The holder of the postdoctoral fellowship will:

Oversee RCT data collection efforts in coordination with Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) grant staff.

Prepare datasets for and support the execution of data analysis.

Co-author project-related institutional review board (IRB) and other regulatory documents.

Co-author project-related scholarly and other outputs.

Participate in weekly supervision and mentoring meetings with the project PI Dr. Cramer.

Participate in project leadership team meetings.

Participate in periodic co-supervision meetings with project Co-I Dr. Laura  Gunn.

Conduct an individualized mentoring plan (IMP) to establish their own research agenda with Dr. Cramer.

Participate in other interprofessional team science research in areas such as suicide prevention, military health, sexual and gender minority (SGM) health, violence prevention, and/or other areas.

Participate in the UNC Charlotte Department of Public Health Sciences (PHS) meetings and professional development opportunities.
