Postdoctoral Position

The Department of Ophthalmology at the Inselspital in Bern, Switzerland invites applications for a postdoctoral position in Ocular Immunology. The Department of Ophthalmology has a strong clinical research program, and offers well-equipped research labs with access to core facilities (genomics, proteomics and imaging) of the University of Bern.

Tasks

The successful candidate is expected to conduct basic and translational research in various aspects of ocular immunology, including the inflammatory pathways mediated by microglia and monocytes/macrophages and/or uveitis. We have established in-house several preclinical models for AMD and vein occlusion and have several genetically modified lines as well as germ free mouse models available.

Requirements

Highly motivated candidates should have previous postdoctoral work experience, excellent skills in routine molecular biology and cell culture techniques and must be willing to work with mice. Previous experience with animal experimentation, common imaging techniques (Fundus, OCT, angiography) and electroretinography are an advantage. Very good knowledge in written and oral English as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. In addition candidates should have the ability to work independently and effectively as well as strong organizational and computer skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
