Job description The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of airborne transmission of infectious diseases. Ventilation and air cleaning in indoor environments has been proposed as a solution to minimise disease transmission, yet scientific evidence is largely lacking. The Institute for Risk Assessment Sciences (IRAS) has a growing area of research into measuring microbial emissions from humans in indoor environments, including respiratory viruses. We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher in the Programme Pandemic Preparedness and Ventilation (P3Venti). This multidisciplinary research programme aims to generate knowledge about the role of airborne transmission of viruses and other pathogens, and the effectiveness of ventilation as a preventive measure against microbial spread. IRAS contributes in P3Venti by implementing and measuring biological aerosol emissions in experimental studies. Including microbial emissions in experimental studies fills a research gap in current studies investigating the indoor dispersion and build- up of exhaled aerosols.

Qualifications The ideal candidate for this position:

Offer We offer a temporary position (1.0 FTE) for one year in an international working environment. In case of good performance, extending the employment is one of the possibilities. The gross salary - depending on previous qualifications and experience - ranges between €2,960 and €4,670 (scale 10 according to the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities) per month for a full-time employment. Salaries are supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8% and a year-end bonus of 8.3% per year. About the organization A better future for everyone.
