About This Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the research team at Queensland Alliance for Environmental Health Sciences Centre (QAEHS) within our Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences.

Supported by an ARC Industrial Transformation Training Centre for Hyphenated Analytical Separation Technologies focussed on developing and applying novel hyphenated analytical methods to environmental science and monitoring, this role will conduct independent research within the field of environmental analytical chemistry and supervise students engaged in these activities.

Key responsibilities will include:

Establishment of analytical approaches for target and suspect analytes in human biomonitoring and environmental samples using high-resolution mass spectrometry;

Development of sensitive methods with excellent quality control to interpret high-resolution mass spectrometry data, conduct MS/MS experiments, and quantify or semi-quantify analytes in complex samples.

As a Level A Research Focused Academic, you will focus on developing your expertise and emerging research profile as well contributing to service and engagement roles and activities.

About You

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow who possesses:

Completion or near completion of a PhD in environmental chemistry, analytical chemistry, toxicology, or a related area, with experience in the research context.

Strong laboratory skills, demonstrated experience with different sampling  methodologies for organic contaminants in environmental samples and, where relevant, extensive demonstrated experience with operating and troubleshooting LC-MSMS, GC-MSMS, GC-HRMS and/or LC-MS QToF instruments.

Ability to perform in-depth and critical data analyses and, where relevant,  data modelling.

An emerging profile in research in the discipline area.

Evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.

Strong written and oral communication skills, including the demonstrated  ability to generate high impact research publications and deliver effectual  conference, seminar and other presentations.

Evidence of contributions towards successfully obtaining external research funding.

Some experience in meaningful internal service roles and contributions towards external activities.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time (100% FTE), fixed-term position through to 31 December 2025 at Academic Level A.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $72,144 - $96,530  plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $84,408.89 - $112,940.88 per annum.
