In the framework of a CEA-CNRS collaborative project funded by the French ANR (AgenceNationale de la Recherche) the LICSEN Laboratory of the CEA Paris-Saclay (UMR CEA-CNRS 3685 NIMBE) is seeking candidates for a postdoctoral fellowship in the field of 2D materials.
Hybrid interfaces between nanocrystal perovskite materials and two dimensional (2D) transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDC) hold great promises for the development of photodetectors. Achieving balanced photo-detection performances, i.e. fast photo-switching and high gain, requires to achieve an optimal balance between the effective photo-carrier lifetime and the source- drain carrier transit time. It is also critically important to master the band alignment and the built in electric fields at the perovskite/TMD interfaces. In the project, our goal is to implement a rational approach for understanding and mastering all the processes that determine the performances of hybrid photodetectors, realized by sensitizing TMDCs with perovskites nanocrystals and nanoplatelets. This approach encompasses the synthesis and processing of high quality TMDC films, the synthesis of perovskites nanocrystals/nanoplatelets along with a suitable ligand engineering, the systematic use of complementary advanced photo-physical characterization methods, and the fabrication of field effect phototransistors with an improved dielectric interface.
In this general context, the post-doctoral fellow recruited at CEA Paris- Saclay LICSEN will mainly be in charge of the integration of 2D materials (MoS2, WS2…) in phototransistors by micro/nanofabrication techniques (mainly e-beam lithography) and the evaluation of their optoelectronic performance. An important aspect of the work also concerns the characterization of materials by different techniques (AFM, SEM, µPL, BALM, Raman, etc.). 2D materials are synthesized in our team by CVD but the growth activity is not central for this specific postdoctoral position. Chemistry oriented project tasks will be performed by another partner so the current position does not include nanoparticle synthesis, ligand engineering or TMDC functionalization. To carry out the project, the candidate will have full access to all the necessary nanofabrication and characterization tools. The optoelectronic measurements will mainly be carried out using a temperature- controlled vacuum probe station equipped with a modulated laser source.
Offer Requirements Specific Requirements
The successful candidate should be a Doctor in Physics with a strong background in experimental physics with a focus on low-noise electronic transport measurements or optoelectronic measurements. Additional expertise in one or more of the following fields would be a strong asset: 2D material physics, nanomaterial characterization techniques (PL, Raman…), device nanofabrication, optics.
