A Research Post Doc Fellow or staff scientist position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Yanxin Pei at the Center for Cancer and Immunology Research at the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington D.C. This position is part of a research program to study tumor microenvironment and develop immunotherapies for pediatric brain tumors. The laboratory uses mouse models as well as patient-derived xenografts to recapitulate the human disease and test novel therapeutics. Our main focus is developing chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell approaches for pediatric brain tumors. This highly translational work will be used to inform clinical trials for pediatric patients.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in molecular biology, immunology, tumor development, or a relevant field. Strong preference will be given to candidates with at least two or more of the following specific skills:

◦Experience in mouse brain tumor models, including stereotactic surgery

◦Experience in genetically engineered models of cancer, including breeding, neonatal surgery, and colony maintenance

◦Experience in advanced in vivo imaging techniques including IVIS and MRI

◦Experience in adoptive cellular therapeutics
