We have an open position for a motivated postdoc to join the ATIP-Avenir research group led by Dr.

Marie-Astrid Boutet in the INSERM UMR 1229-Regenerative Medicine and Skeleton lab (Director J. Guicheux) in Nantes (France). The STRATOA group ‘Immune cells and osteoarthritis personalized therapies' aims to decipher the role of the innate cellular component in driving osteoarthritis (OA) pathophysiology.

MAIN ACTIVITIES

She/He will design a range of experiments on human synovial biopsies, primary culture and mouse models, aiming at confirming the pathogenicity of innate immune cells in the development and perpetuation of the synovial inflammation in osteoarthritis (OA), and will develop gene modulation strategies for our targets of interest.

She/he will perform the experiments, record and analyze the data in a timely fashion, and will present findings at regular group/team/lab meetings and for scientific meetings and publications, as appropriate. She/He will follow Nantes University, Inserm and RMeS health and safety risk assessment and data protection policies.

She/He will contribute to the training and direction of other research staff  and students as requested.

She/He will work under Dr Marie-Astrid Boutet's direct supervision within the Atip-Avenir STRATOA group in the REJOINT team (Regeneration and pathophysiology of joints) coordinated by J. Guicheux and F. Blanchard. The RMeS lab has a full set of cutting-edge equipment with state-of-the- art facilities and dedicated technical staffs, and benefits from a strong established link with Nantes University Hospital and the National Veterinary School of Nantes (Oniris) to facilitate multidisciplinary biomedical research.

Skills/Qualifications

Background in immunology/innate immunity (required).

Validated experience in performing biological research in vitro (e.g. primary cell culture, ex vivo tissue explant culture), experience of handling and processing human specimens (required).

Validated experience in flow cytometry (required).

Experience in conducting preclinical research using mouse models (active animal license desirable).

Expertise in the field of macrophage biology and/or joint diseases (desirable).

Experience of gene interference experiments (e.g., siRNA) and/or gene delivery (e.g., using lipoplexes) (desirable).

Prior experience in computational bioinformatic analysis (e.g., RNAseq, scRNASeq) is a plus but not required.

Evidence of previous published research (at least one publication with first authorship required).

Ability to design and conduct rigorous experiments, and commitment to high-quality research.

Strong motivation, organizational skills, scientific curiosity and analytical thinking.

Ability to work as part of a cohesive and multidisciplinary team.

Excellent writing and communication skills in English, ability to present scientific results to both scientific and non-specialist audiences.

The candidate should hold his/her PhD for less than 2 years
