美国贝勒医学院博士后职位—组织病理学、转录组分析、基因治疗、药物传递

Baylor College of Medicine

Summary

Dr. Yingbin Fu’s laboratory at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) is seeking a talented post-doctoral fellow. The Fu lab is interested in using the visual system to study sensory transduction, the biological mechanisms underlying various types of neurodegeneration, and to develop innovative treatment strategies. Recently, the Fu lab has made significant progress toward the understanding of two blinding diseases: Leber congenital amaurosis (LCA), the most severe retinal dystrophy in early childhood, and age-related macular degeneration (AMD), the leading cause of irreversible blindness in the elderly. The PI has won the National Institute of Health/National Eye Institute Audacious Goals Challenge Awards (https://rebrand.ly/nih-award1; https://rebrand.ly/nei-award1).

Job Duties

•Performs animal research, including injections, in vivo analyses, etc.

•Manages mice colony to include husbandry, etc.

•Organizes lab, reviews inventory and orders supplies.

The candidate is expected to develop a highly innovative and effective treatment for AMD by targeting its multiple underlying causes including cholesterol metabolism, angiogenesis, inflammation, etc. The lab uses the following techniques for this study: histopathology on animal models and human specimens, transcriptome profiling, advanced in vivo imaging in animal models, gene therapy, drug delivery, etc. Prior experience in these areas is preferred. The Fu lab is particularly interested in using the visual system to address post-genomic era challenges (e.g., translate enormous genetic information to functional information). We place emphasis in “Translational Research”: from “discovering mechanisms” to “developing innovative treatment strategies” to “moving into clinical trials”. Due to the translational nature of our research, students and postdocs will have good employment opportunities in both academia and industry.

Minimum Qualifications

•MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.

•No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

•Prior experience in the following areas is preferred: •histopathology,

•transcriptome profiling,

•advanced in vivo imaging in animal models,

•gene therapy,

•drug delivery.

•Recipients of recent PhD or MD degree are strongly encouraged to apply.
