The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Research Fellow (Cancer Functional Genomics) to join the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology within the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University.

In this position you will undertake research and study the effect of heritable DNA on cancer predisposition. You will work on a project that will involve the use of new CRISPR based base editors for high throughput introduction of cancer variants and measuring phenotypes they mediate in various cancer models. The project will contribute to combine methods in advanced molecular biology, genetics, high throughput screening and next generation sequencing.

To be the successful candidate you must hold doctoral qualifications in the relevant discipline or a closely related field. Your experience in analytical and manuscript preparation paired with your ability to solve complex problems by using discretion, innovation and the exercise diagnostic skills will guide your success in this role. Previous experience with CRISPR and genome editing and experience with cancer models is not required but will be highly advantageous.

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
