英国牛津大学牛津疫苗组博士后职位

Postdoctoral Research Scientist

University Of Oxford

Postdoctoral Research Scientist

Department of Paediatrics, Oxford Vaccine Group, CCVTM, Churchill Hospital, Oxford

Two roles are available to join an exciting team investigating the human response to enteric pathogens by use of a human challenge model.

A Postdoctoral Research Scientist and a Senior Immunologist (vacancy ID 158206) are required to join the Enteric Fever Laboratory Team at Oxford Vaccine Group, University of Oxford, led by Prof. Andrew Pollard. This exciting research programme focuses on clinical testing of typhoid and paratyphoid vaccines, and as has already resulted in the licensure of a new Typhoid conjugate vaccine, which is currently being deployed in countries across South Asia. The successful applicants will be part of the clinical trials team and will work on the evaluation of candidate vaccines in clinical trials using a Controlled Human Infection Model and field trials.

As the Post-Doctoral Research Scientist, you will work closely with the Senior Immunologist, Prof. Pollard and the clinical trials team to support the laboratory aspects of the enteric trial delivery including a range of laboratory and managerial duties, and support the immunological and bacteriological outputs associated with the trials. Activities include SOP/study document development, delivery of vaccine and challenge agents for controlled human infection studies, liaising with the clinical and study management teams to ensure smooth delivery of the clinical trials, oversight of and contribution to sample processing, junior staff training and rota management.

Both posts will require good interpersonal skills and be able to interact productively with other team members. Experience of managing, or contributing to the management of, a research (or otherwise relevant) project would be a particular advantage. The ability to prepare data for publication including statistical analysis, ensuring the quality of scientific data and the ability to work as part of a team are essential. The research includes cellular immunology techniques carried out with human blood samples including ELISPOT, ELISA, and sterile cell culture. Experience of working to GCP would be an advantage.

These posts are initially funded for 24 months. We will apply for further funding to support longer-term continuation of this post. You will be based at the Oxford Vaccine Group, at the University's Centre for Clinical Vaccinology and Tropical Medicine, Churchill Hospital in Headington.

You will be required to upload a CV and Supporting Statement as part of your online application. The Supporting Statement should include a cover letter and should also clearly describe how you meet each of the selection criteria listed in the job description.
