Description

The position is placed at the Division of Solid State Physics at the Department of Physics, a division with around 100 employees where extensive research is carried out centered on various aspects of nanophysics, ranging from materials science to bio- and quantum physics to various applications. The division is a central part of NanoLund, Lund University's large interdisciplinary research Centre on nanoscience and nanotechnology. The division includes Lund Nano Lab, a central and shared facility for the production of materials and components at the nanoscale. The Division has a strong commitment to undergraduate education, not least in the Master's programme "Engineering Nanoscience" at LTH.

During the last decade, our research within the area of one-dimensional semi- conductor structures, so called nanowires, has been at the international fore- front. In particular, our research in bio-nanoscience has played a key role in establishing the field of using nanostructures for probing cells and steering cell behavior. Work duties

As a researcher, your duties mainly involve conducting research. The researcher will work on the delivery of biological cargos (e.g. lipid nanoparticles containing RNA with reporter molecules, RNA and molecular beacons) to living cells and the investigation of the cargo fate using confocal microscopy and super resolution microscopy.

Work duties include:

·  Identification of relevant cargos biomolecules

·  Design a scheme for delivering the biomolecules inside the cytosol

·  Test and characterize the efficiency of the delivery using fluorescence microscopy and STED microscopy

The researcher will work in the research group of Prof. Christelle Prinz at the division of Solid State Physics and in close collaboration with the group of Prof. Tommy Nylander at the division of Physical Chemistry.

Qualifications

Required qualifications for the position are:

·  A PhD or equivalent research qualification within the subject of the position

·  Very good oral and written proficiency in English

·  Significant experience with interdisciplinary work across nanoscience and medicine

·  Experience in fluorescence microscopy

·  Experience with cell culture

Additional qualifications for the position are:

·  Experience in working with characterization techniques such as spectroscopy techniques and correlative microscopy techniques

·  Experience in interfacing nanomaterials and living cells

·  Experience in immunocytochemistry

Consideration will also be given to how the applicant's experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

Further information

This is a fixed-term employment of 1 year at 100 per cent of full time and starting in August 1st 2022 or by agreement.
