A 3-year post-doctoral position is available in the laboratory of Edouard Bertrand at the Institute of Human Genetics, CNRS and Montpellier University, France. The aim of the project is to use single molecule imaging tools to characterize HIV-1 transcriptional activity in living cells and better understand viral latency. We are looking for a candidate interested in using imaging methods to characterize gene regulation mechanisms and in particular transcriptional control.

Study transcriptional control in living cells. The candidate will explore the transcription of HIV-1 in latent T cells using RNA imaging approaches. He/She will conduct the project, perform the experiments and write the corresponding scientific publications.

The team is located at the IGH Institute in Montpellier (France). The IGH is dedicated to basic research in biology with an emphasis on genome regulation and gene expression. It is compose of >200 people grouped in<20 research teams. It has access to a number of high-tech facilities in imaging, sequencing, proteomics, animal house, etc. The candidate will work in the team of E. Bertrand. This team is composed of 14 people and study RNA metabolism using imaging approaches, with an emphasis on HIV-1 regulation.

Eligibility criteria

The candidate should have a strong background in cellular and molecular biology and/or biophysics/imaging, and ideally should be familiar with HIV-1 transcriptional regulation. He/She will work in an interdisciplinary environment involving biologists, mathematicians and biophysicists.
