Project Summary

This project addresses three of the priorities of the Healthy Ageing Challenge Framework:

1. sustaining physical activity

2. maintaining health at work and work in later life

3. supporting social connections.

Shine is an innovative tech platform that will power community-based health campaigns with the aim of increasing levels of physical activity, improving quality of life and drastically reducing long-term healthcare costs.

Shine is developing a prototype platform that will be ready for user testing by January 2022. This project will involve testing of this platform with a target audience of 400-600 adults over 50 years old across East Lothian. The project will also test elements of Shine's campaigning model to demonstrate its ability to attract new users and increase their levels of physical activity. Evaluation carried out by The University of Stirling will test Shine's ability to deliver lasting behavioural change.
