The Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, v. v. i. (FZU) is a public research institution, focusing on basic and applied research in physics (https: // www. fzu.cz/en/home). Department of Functional Materials (https:// ofm.fzu.cz/) focuses on the research of functional engineering materials displaying active and/or passive functionality imprinted to the materials on the structural level, particularly to shape memory alloys (SMA) and SMA hybrid composites.
Job description
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral position in the field of micromechanics of deformation processes in SMAs. The successful applicant will join research team working in the area of SMA modelling for over 15 years (https:// ofm.fzu.cz/roundrobin-sma-modelling). He/she will contribute to understanding of reversible and irreversible deformation processes in SMAs through experimental micromechanical testing (Femtotools FT-NMT04 in-situ SEM Nanoindenter) with simultaneous SEM imaging and EBSD mapping.
The position is partially supported by research projects funded by Czech Grants Foundation (GAČR) and the Czech Academy of Sciences.
Your profile
Ph.D. in Materials Engineering
Proven research record in the field of experimental micromechanics of materials
Expertise in mechanics of solids
Expertise in mechanical testing of materials
Advanced English, written and spoken
Knowledges and experience from the following research areas are beneficial (shape memory alloys, in-situ experimentation in SEM, EBSD in SEM, programing in MATLAB, PYTHON, LabView)
