Postdoctoral Research Fellow
University Of Stirling
Description
Computing Science in the Faculty of Natural Sciences at University of Stirling is offering a post-doctoral research fellow (PDRF) post to work on an industrial project developing INtelligent FOod Recognition and Monitoring for patient wellbeing (INFORM) and food waste monitoring. The post holder will join the Stirling Vision and Image Processing Group (https:// vip.cs.stir.ac.uk/) and will work within a vibrant research environment.
INFORM is an industrial project and aims to develop an embedded hardware that uses computer vision and IoT to automatically detect and analyse food consumption. It will assist care providers to monitor patients' wellbeing and provide increased quality of care and reduce the quantity of food waste, preserving valuable health service and care homes resources and reducing environmental impacts. This will be achieved through a collaboration between the Stirling Vision and Image Processing research group at University of Stirling and the industrial partner.
Description of Duties
The post-holder will work with Dr Deepayan Bhowmik, Dr Kevin Swingler and Dr Mohamed Elawady and will undertake the following duties:
Development of a robust computer vision algorithm that can recognise food items
Development of an algorithmic prototype portable embedded vision system capable of running the algorithm in real-time
Designing an IoT system along with data analytics as part of the design and development of the industrial system
Informal enquiries can be made to Dr Deepayan Bhowmik (deepayan.bhowmik@stir.ac.uk)
