The Danish Hydrocarbon Research and Technology Centre (DHRTC), Technical University of Denmark (DTU), invites applicants for a position in the field of numerical simulations of CO2 storage and gas flooding in chalk reservoirs. The position is part of two project portfolios relating to CO2 storage and gas injection in the Danish North Sea Chalk reservoirs. DHRTC is established by the Danish Underground Consortium and DTU. As part of a national strategy on oil and gas, the research centre is an ambitious, targeted effort to improve various aspects of production and recovery of oil and gas from the Danish North Sea within three areas: reduced operating costs, increased extraction and reducing environmental impact. This position is part of two programs: 1) the new program on CO2 storage in the Danish North Sea fields, and 2) gas injection in tight chalk reservoirs.
Responsibilities and qualifications The candidate is expected to utilize coupled numerical simulations to address the fate and transport of gas injection in chalk reservoirs. The main purposes are to study: 1) CO2 storage and gas injection (trapping/sweep) efficiency under THMC processes during CO2 injection in chalk reservoirs; 2) CO2 impact on seismic signals; 3) uncertainty analysis of the contribution of various trapping mechanisms.
You must have:
A PhD degree in Petroleum/Chemical/Mechanical/Civil Engineering, Hydrogeology, Earth / Environmental Sciences or other relevant areas;
Knowledge of the fundamentals of gas injection and reactive flow and transport in porous media;
A good knowledge of geochemistry and geophysics is very valuable.
Practical experience with scientific programming languages is desirable
Experience in reservoir simulations
The ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment as an independent researcher;
Good writing and communication skills in English;

Salary and appointment terms The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
