CRYO-EM SCIENTIST

This position is to support and expand investigations of protein structures using cryo-electron microscopy within the Kirchdoerfer lab at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (https: // kirchdoerferlab.wisc.edu/). At least 3 years operating electron microscopes is required. This expert level position will have duties requiring both knowledge of electron microscopes and effective project management. The successful candidate will 1) be knowledgeable about electron microscopy and its application to biological samples; 2) possess a working knowledge of linux computer architectures with proficiency in command line operation, basic scripting, bioinformatics, and website development; 3) have experience training and mentoring students, trainees or equivalent to be productive and independent; 4) have the ability to work effectively in teams and independently; 5) have experience in managing multiple research projects concurrently; 6) possess excellent written and oral communication skills to coordinate with colleagues and collaborators and to produce reports, papers, presentations and grants.

Education:

Required Terminal Degree M.S. degree required, Ph.D. or equivalent is preferred, in chemistry, biochemistry or related field.
