Applications are invited for a Senior Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the computational genomics team led by Dr Jerome Kelleher, at the Big Data Institute. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Janssen- University of Oxford Translational Genomics Fellowship programme, and to apply, evaluate and extend novel genome imputation methods using genealogy- based algorithms.
Senior Postdoctoral Research Fellow, you will work closely with scientists and collaborating researchers in a globally distributed team. You will use the tsinfer software to infer genealogical trees for large datasets such as UK Biobank and FinnGen, and use these datasets to test and refine the new genealogy based imputation methods. You will also have the freedom to develop your own research questions within the broader context of the project.
You will hold a PhD/DPhil in a quantitative science subject and have significant experience and research skills in large scale genomics. You will have a good working knowledge of genomics file formats and be proficient in working with large genomics datasets. You will also be proficient in Unix and a high-level programming language such as Python. It is important that you have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work closely with others as a team.
The position is funded by the Janssen-University of Oxford Translational Genomics Fellowship and is fixed-term until 1 September 2023.
