The Klein lab (Rutgers-Camden, Biology Department) has an NSF-funded postdoc position available to study the synthesis and physiological properties of bacterial ceramides and sphingolipids. Our lab has recently identified the enzymes required for bacterial sphingolipid production; surprisingly, our results support the independent evolution of ceramide synthesis in eukaryotes and prokaryotes. Applicants should have experience one or more of the following areas: molecular biology, microbiology, and/or lipid biochemistry.
