Karolinska Institute Stockholm
Description
Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?
The Department of Dental Medicine works with research and education within dental medicine and medicine with clinical training sites for future dental surgeons. The research side has three major focuses – Infection & Immunology, Clinical Odontology & Diagnostics, and Orofacial Neurosciences. We offer a top international learning and research environment for researchers, students, technical and administrative personnel. In KI´s new ANA Futura laboratory we are creating a leading translational integrated research environment equipped for cutting-edge research, where the boundaries between departments and clinics are torn down and researchers collaborate on the basis of common research profiles.
Location
Margaret Sällberg Chen's research group - Unit for Oral Diagnostics and Surgery
Your mission
This postdoctoral research position is immediately available in the research group of Dr. Margaret Sällberg Chen. The position is for a scientist with background in disease conditions associated with dysfunctionality in host immunity and/or oral-gut microbiota. The candidate will be part of a research team that aims at understanding new mechanistic insights of in patients diagnosed with conditions related to pancreatic and liver cancer development. The work comprises monitoring of immunological, microbiome dynamics using clinical speciments, including the latest 3-D microfluidic models to understand the impact of microbiota in cancer including immunotherapy. Disease-specific markers will be investigated to develop diagnostic methods and individualized therapeutic strategies to improve human health.
The post doctoral fellows to be recruited to the project will be part of a multidisciplinary team and are expected to take active part in collaborative efforts, in line with the overall aims of this project. The studies will require methodological skills - from handling of human biopsy/biofluid to cell sorting, and/or microbiology/molecular biology assays related to microbiome sequencing analysis. The project is suitable for highly motivated researchers in molecular life sciences, especially those who have already knowledge of NGS bioinformatics workflow and resources.
