The Mijakovic lab at Chalmers SysBio is advertising a postdoctoral position in graphene-based biosensors. The contract duration is 18 months.

Information about the research/the project/the division The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to work on developing a diagnostic chip for tumor markers, based on graphene conjugated with CRISPR/Cas9. The work will be done in collaboration with a local hospital. The postdoctoral fellow will join a productive interdisciplinary research environment at Chalmers SysBio. Major responsibilities We are seeking a highly motivated individual, driven by scientific curiosity and capable of driving their own research project independently. The candidate is expected to actively collaborate with other members of the Mijakovic lab. The work will comprise fabrication of sensor chips, functionalization of graphene and optimization of the detection setup in collaboration with the hospital partner.

Your major responsibility as postdoc is to perform your own research in a research group. The position may include teaching on undergraduate and master's levels as well as supervising master's and/or PhD students to a certain extent. Another important aspect involves collaboration within academia and with society at large. The position is meritorious for future research duties within academia as well as industry/the public sector.

Position summary Full-time temporary employment. The position is limited to a maximum of 18 months.

Qualifications To qualify for the position of postdoc, you must have a doctoral degree in nanotechnology or a related discipline. The degree should generally not be older than three years. You are expected to be somewhat accustomed to teaching, and to demonstrate good potential within research and education. The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English. Swedish is not a requirement but Chalmers offers Swedish courses.

We also see that you have: Strong publication record (1st authorships in peer-reviewed publications). Experience with graphene or similar 2D materials, experience with nanofabrication of sensor devices. Advanced scientific writing skills, ability to write peer reviewed papers independently.

Meritorious experience and skills: Experience with functionalization of graphene with proteins or peptides.
