About the role: The position involves working with researchers in the School of Ecosystem and Forest Sciences at the University of Melbourne to examine the effects of bushfires and planned burning on bird populations in southeastern Australia. The Research Fellow will be responsible for field surveys of birds, analyses of biodiversity data, and the production of research outputs for a range of audiences.
About you:
Minimum Qualifications Required: Completion (or submission) of a PhD in ecology, conservation biology, environmental science or a related discipline
Skills and Experience required to fulfil the position:
1.1 Essential
Completion (or submission) of a PhD in ecology, conservation biology, environmental science or a related discipline
Expertise in conducting field surveys of plants or habitat attributes
Experience modelling ecological data or spatial data
Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a diverse team
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
1.2 Desirable
Expertise and experience working in remote regions
The ability to engage positively and productively with a range of stakeholders
Experience in fire science is not a requirement for the position but the applicant will be expected to apply their expertise in ecology or a related discipline to this exciting field or research
