FTE: 0.8fte working 29.6 hours per week

Duration : Fixed term contract to 30th November 2022

Salary: UH7 £33,797 pa pro rata to £40,322 pa pro rata depending on skills and experience

Location : College Lane Campus, Hatfield, University of Hertfordshire

We are seeking an enthusiastic and ambitious Research Fellow to develop and provide research support for programmes of research and implementation in Ageing and Multi-morbidity. This post is funded by a grant from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) as part of the East of England Applied Research Collaboration (ARC). https: // arc-eoe.nihr.ac.uk/

Main duties and responsibilities

The post has arisen because the current holder is taking up an 18m fellowship. This is an opportunity for the successful applicant to gain experience working collaboratively with leading academics, key stakeholders and communities across the East of England. You will support a programme of research and implementation activity, working collaboratively with colleagues at other participating Universities in the East of England (EoE) and health, public health, social care and third sector partners. You'll gain valuable knowledge and experience of developing health / care / public health research at local, regional and national levels You will be encouraged to support bid development and writing.

Skills and experience needed

Experience and knowledge relating to the research theme area together with experience of working with academic and non-academic collaborators are required. You will have research experience and knowledge relating to health and social care, and ideally a record of scholarly published work. Experience conducting literature searches using electronic resources, and presenting research findings at local or national level are also essential.

You will have good IT skills, organised, deal with sensitive information with strict confidentiality and have a systematic approach with high attention to detail. You will have good spoken and written English, excellent interpersonal and presentation skills and time management skills. You will be flexible and adaptable to workload, able to work well in a team and to evidence communication to a high standard including peer reviewed publications, able to demonstrate initiative and have the ability to learn new skills.

You may already bring experience of grant capture, staff supervision and PhD supervision.

Travel across the East of England and collaboration with other regional Universities will be expected, so a driving licence and access to transport is desirable.

Qualifications required

You will hold a good undergraduate honours degree in a relevant discipline, alongside a PhD, or be close to completion of a PhD (no more than 3 months prior to viva), or hold an equivalent qualification/ relevant experience.
