A postdoc position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Gerd Blobel at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. We are a highly interactive, collaborative, well funded, and productive team. We work in various areas of epigenetics, nuclear architecture and gene expression. For example, we study genome folding dynamics during the cell cycle and during transitions in cellular differentiation. We examine the involvement in these processes of architectural factors, and the interplay of genome architecture with gene transcription.

We also study the beta globin genes in red blood cell precursors and are developing tools to alter globin gene expression profiles for the treatment of sickle cell disease and thalassemia.

Applicants should be highly motivated, independent, and have a strong background in molecular biology or biochemistry. Candidates with some level of bioinformatics experience will be considered favorably.
