Summary
Texas Children’s Hospital Center for Vaccine Development at Baylor College of Medicine (https://www.bcm.edu/departments/pediatrics/sections-divisions-centers/tropical-medicine/research/vaccine-development) is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to support its ongoing development and characterization of a SARS-CoV-2 vaccine. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated scientist with interest and expertise in immunology and/or virology to join the Center for Vaccine Development. Our goal is to test and optimize the immune response to vaccines against coronaviruses. The team, led by scientists with experience in vaccine development for neglected and emerging infectious diseases is looking to recruit a postdoctoral researcher. Baylor is located in the world-renowned Texas Medical Center and offers a highly interactive environment and a strong infrastructure for research and career development.
Job Duties
•Participate in vaccine development efforts in collaboration with biological scientists throughout the academic community, with a goal of bringing new vaccines against coronaviruses and other pathogens to the clinic.
•Perform antigen-specific biochemical assays to assess antigen functionality; conduct ELISAs to characterize antigen/antibody binding in vitro and to assess the immune response using sera from vaccinated animals; develop and execute pseudo-virus assays to characterize sera from immunized animals; conduct live-virus challenge experiments to assess the efficacy of vaccine test articles.
•All work must be documented and reported in a timely manner and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
•PhD in immunology or virology or a related discipline
•Four years of hands-on laboratory experience in medicinal/organic chemistry and/or a related field and a track record of quality publications and/or patents in these areas.
