The Biocolloids Laboratory at McGill University (www.biocolloid.mcgill.ca) is looking for a highly talented postdoctoral researcher to contribute to our research on the detection and impacts of nanoplastics and nanoengineered materials.
Research in the group includes projects on the detection of engineered nanomaterials and nanoplastics in the environment and their fate and impacts on various model organisms. The Biocolloids Laboratory is within the Department of Chemical Engineering at McGill University and our researchers have access to numerous state-of-the-art facilities on and off campus (e.g., an animal care facility, an advanced imaging facility, molecular analyses center, etc).
This position is funded through the Fisheries and Oceans Canada and NSERC and may have a duration of up to 2 years contingent upon satisfactory performance and continued funding.
Qualifications and Experience
We seek a candidate with expertise in one or more of the following areas: (1) advanced microscopy; (2) colloid science; (3) ecotoxicology; (4) nanoplastics/microplastics. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, passionate about research in the environmental sciences and is keen to work in a collaborative environment. Familiarity with colloid characterization tools would be an asset. The candidate must have excellent oral and written English communication skills. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct independent research and collaborate with other team members, to write manuscripts for submission to high-impact scientific journals, to train graduate and undergraduate students in their research work and manuscript preparation, and to maintain selected laboratory instruments.
