Postdoctoral Fellow in Regulatory Genomics

The Maurano Lab is looking for a talented Fellow to work on how the noncoding genome specifies cell-type specific transcriptional regulation and its involvement in the genetics of human traits and diseases. Our lab aims to establish a foundation for the mechanistic study of regulatory variation, with the long-term goal of understanding how the noncoding genome affects cell-type specific transcriptional regulation and its involvement in the genetics of human traits and diseases. We apply both experimental and computational approaches and our interests include:
1. Genome engineering approaches for dissection of regulatory architecture
2. Prediction of functional effects of non-coding regulatory variation
3. Regulatory variation and the genetics of human diseases and traits
4. Profiling of chromatin features and their relationship to nuclear organization and function
Multiple projects along these lines are available that build on our recently developed cell engineering platform for synthetic regulatory genomics (Brosh et al. PNAS 2021).

Location
Our laboratory is located on the east side of Manhattan at the NYU School of Medicine. We are affiliated with the Institute for Systems Genetics, the Department of Pathology, and the Sackler Institute of Graduate Biomedical Sciences. We are co-located with the Center for Human Genetics and Genomics and the Institute for Computational Medicine. The Institute is designed to foster inter-disciplinary research at the cutting edge of human genetics and genomic technology, and hosts dedicated high-performance computing resources, sequencing, cells sorting, and other support facilities, and an automation suite with multiple liquid handling robots enabling rapid scaling of new techniques.
Requirements
A Ph.D. in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, or a related field is required. Candidates with both experimental and computational experience are welcome.
