美国西奈山伊坎医学院代谢组学数据科学博士后职位
Postdoctoral Fellow in Metabolomics Data Science
Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS), MSHS
Employment Type: Full Time, 3 years. Start Date: Summer 2021
Description:
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with significant data science experience to perform untargeted LC-HRMS data analysis and develop software tools in the Laboratory for Metabolomics and Exposomics Phenotyping, part of the Senator Frank R. Lautenberg Environmental Health Sciences Laboratory in the Department of Environmental Medicine and Public Health (EMPH) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. You will play an integral role in analyzing our HRMS data from ongoing biomarker research and studies exploring environmental causes of disease, including cancer, autism, and others in large cohorts. Research is particularly focused on developing untargeted technologies in novel matrices for measuring early life exposures. The facility currently houses three UHPLC-HRMS instruments (Agilent 6550 and 6545, Thermo Q-Exactive HFX), two GC-HRMS (Thermo GC Q-Exactive), as well as several GC- and LC-QqQ instruments, and has plans to further strengthen its technology base.
As part of the metabolomics team, you will participate in discussions and lab meetings, as well as be an integral part of advancing the methods development, research, and service projects central to our laboratory. You will be the lead omics data analyst with opportunities to develop novel analytics strategies and exposomics discovery tools as software packages, analyze large metabolomics datasets to investigate associations with exposure mixtures and phenotypes, write publications as lead author, assist in grant writing, network with leading collaborators, and present your findings at Scientific Meetings.
Knowledge/Skills:
As the ideal candidate, you must have a Ph.D. in chemistry, biostatistics, computer science, bioinformatics, epidemiology, or related field, and experience analyzing metabolomics data. You must be a critical thinker and have a strong programming background in python and/or R, with a passion for writing clean, efficient code to streamline processes and workflows. You must also have strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet project timelines. A biochemistry or epidemiology background are a great advantage.
Our laboratory is located on Central Park in New York City and is affiliated with the Mount Sinai Health System, the largest health care provider in New York. EMPH has an NIEHS P30 core center with a pilot grant program to which fellows are eligible to apply and a formal mentoring and development program in conjunction with an NICHD-funded T32 training grant. EMPH also includes the new Institute for Exposomic Research, the first in the world focused on exposomics. Fellows will be offered subsidized housing in Manhattan and a competitive stipend. Base salary is comparable to NIH stipend rate for each year of experience
Application process:
Interested candidates should email a cover letter including a summary of research interests and experience, as well as their curriculum vitae, to Dr. Lauren Petrick (lauren.petrick@mssm.edu)
