Summary
The King lab at BCM / TCH is seeking a motivated and talented postdoctoral associate to pursue studies on the effect of inflammation on hematopoietic stem cells. Current studies explore the impact of infections, inflammation, and the microbiome on steady state hematopoiesis, clonal hematopoiesis, and trained immunity. Experience in flow cytometry, molecular biology, tissue culture, use of murine models, and protein biochemistry is preferred but not required. The lab is generously supported by the NIH and offers a collegial and collaborative work environment. Job Duties
•Carry out projects as directed by the PI while functioning largely independently in pursuing and troubleshooting methods, maintaining collaborations, and analyzing data.
•Take an active role in writing grants and manuscripts that result from the research work.
•May supervise and advise research assistants and graduate students in the lab and will have the opportunity to teach them basic methods, responsible conduct in research, time management and organizational skills, data analysis techniques, and oral and written communication skills.
•Serve as a cohesive leader in the lab to promote an atmosphere of cooperation and productivity, scientific creativity, enthusiasm for discovery, and hard work.
Minimum Qualifications
•PhD in molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, immunology, stem cell biology, or cell and developmental biology
Preferred Qualifications
•Prior experience working with murine models
•Flow cytometry and cell culture experience
