Postdoctoral Scholar Employee at University Of California, Los Angeles (UCLA)

Description

A postdoctoral scholar position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Miklos Sahin-Toth at the Department of Surgery. The postdoctoral scholar will perform independent research to study genetic risk factors and the role of proteases in pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer. He/she will also be responsible for helping to supervise graduate students and undergraduate student researchers, preparing manuscripts for publication in scientific journals, and assisting with the preparation of grant proposals. This position requires a Ph.D. or M.D. degree and some experience in enzyme biochemistry and/or mouse work. Candidates enthusiastic about the prospect of developing a research carrier in basic and translational gastroenterology are invited to apply. The postdoctoral scholar position is a non-Senate position for 12 months in the first instance. Step is commensurate with experience. Applicants should have no more than five years of cumulative postdoctoral research experience, including postdoctoral service at other institutions. Specific responsibilities include: Responsibilities of this position include study design, data acquisition, statistical analysis, literature review and manuscript/grant preparation.

Additional duties: Supervision of undergraduates, graduate students and new postdoctoral trainees in the lab. Ability to work on multiple projects efficiently and effectively. Ability to work independently on scientific projects. Assist with preparation of grant proposals. Preparation of manuscripts for publication in scientific journals. Required to communicate well with other scientists worldwide. Candidate should have some research experience in enzyme biochemistry and/or mouse work. The candidate will report directly to the Principal Investigator.
