Postdoc In Clinical Proteomics
Technische Universität München
Young Investigator Group "Mass Spectrometry in Systems Neurosciences" Postdoc in clinical proteomics
09.03.2021, Wissenschaftliches Personal
As part of the BMBF-funded research consortium “Clinical Mass Spectrometry Center Munich – CLINSPECT-M”, the Young Investigator Group in “Mass Spectrometry in Systems Neurosciences” at the Technical University of Munich invites applications for a PostDoc - Clinical Proteomics with a strong background or interest in mass-spectrometry-based proteomics and its application in biomedical research. https: // mspec-sysns.de/joboffers
The successful candidate will become a key member of a highly dynamic team focusing on the development and application of proteomic approaches to disease mechanism and biomarker discovery in the areas of neurosciences and precision medicine. In particular, this position will work on the development of proteomic technologies to systematically study the hitherto largely unexplored peptidomes in the body fluids of patients with neuro-diseases. The most important aspects of the job description are: (1) Optimization and automation of robust and high-quality clinical peptidomic workflows for patient-derived CSF and plasma samples. (2) Development of LC-MS/MS acquisition methods for peptidome analysis. (3) Data analysis and research on selected neuro-diseases to identify disease mechanisms and biomarkers. The team will be established in spring 2021 and fully embedded in an interdisciplinary consortium, CLINSPECT-M, with Munich-based experts in proteomics, medicine and informatics to drive technological innovations, meet urgent medical needs and address important societal challenges on diseases of the nervous system. Requirements: Candidates must hold a PhD degree in a life science discipline. Good theoretical knowledge of and practical skills in protein biochemistry and bioanalytical methods are essential. Applicants should also possess a solid understanding of modern aspects of molecular and cellular (neuro)biology. Prior experience with proteomic or genomic technologies are a plus. Additional desirable skills include hands-on operation of LC-MS, laboratory workflow automation, and analysis and visualization of large data sets using “R”. We are looking for a self- motivated and broadly interested individual with high potential and a strong sense of responsibility. Flexibility and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment on multiple scientific and infrastructure projects are essential. Good inter-cultural and interpersonal communication skills as well as presenting complex data to scientists and clinicians in English are also important. Our offer: You will join a young and highly dynamic team that closely collaborates with the interdisciplinary team of biochemists, cell biologists, bioinformaticians, chemists, and clinicians and uses the latest proteomic approaches and equipment to help fighting diseases. The Technical University of Munich is one of the best academic institutions in Germany and offers a stimulating work environment and excellent future perspectives. The position is initially available for five years and the salary follows the TVL/E13 scale.
