The Institute of Infectiology at the Center for Molecular Biology of Inflammation (ZMBE) at the University Münster, Germany, is offering at the earliest opportunity limited to 28.02.2023 a position as aPostdoctoral Researcher (gn*)
Ref. 05798
Salary according to German TV-L E13 (100%)

The Institute of Infectiology investigates the molecular mechanisms of pathogenicity and the host defense strategies of enteropathogenic bacteria. We are a vibrant, international team working towards a comprehensive understanding of the inter-actions between the enteric pathogens and their hosts/host cells. Recently we have started new projects to understand how the mammalian host counteracts an infection by enteropathogenic bacteria (such as Yersinia, E. coli, Salmonella) to provide insights into the complex pathogen-triggered responses. For this purpose, we use a wide range of modern molecular biology, cell biology, immunology and infection biology techniques, as well as fluorescence microscopy, mouse infection models and various RNA-Seq techniques (dual RNA-Seq). The postdoctoral project aims towards (i) characterizing of virulence traits and immune responses initiated by the bacteria and how the pathogens circumvent their eradication by counteracting this defense using sophisticated cell culture systems and mouse infection models, and (ii) to identify novel drug targets and small molecule inhibitors against certain virulence traits for therapeutic interventions.
The Institute of Infectiology offers new state of the art equipment and a comprehensive strain and cell line collection.

Expertise:
The candidate should have a strong background in microbiology and/or immunology. Experience in mammalian cell culture, confocal microscopy/live-cell imaging, mouse (infection) models, immunology techniques (flow cytometry), and work with pathogenic bacteria (BLS2) would be an advantage.
