Job Description

The Oh lab (www.ohlabs.org) is seeking talented postdoctoral fellows who are interested in studying the mechanisms that underlie cancer cell identity. Our lab aims to uncover how the ubiquitin-proteasome system governs gene regulation in both physiological and tumorigenic contexts (Nature, PMID: 32076268). Some of our ongoing projects include (i) identifying the ubiquitin-dependent enzymes that control the distinct identities of cancer cells, (ii) characterizing the molecular basis for ubiquitin-dependent gene expression control, and (iii) developing small molecule inhibitors (PROTACs) that target the ubiquitin-proteasome system. To tackle these issues, we employ an integrated approach, combining global and quantitative analyses with hypothesis-driven, mechanistic studies.

We are seeking a self-motivated investigator who has a solid background in biochemistry, cell biology, CRISPR-based screens, and/or small molecule drug discovery. The ideal candidate is a strong bench scientist who can think creatively and has a proven track of success in a laboratory setting (i.e. a first author publication). A PhD and/or MD is required for this position and the degree must be conferred within the last three years. The candidate will be expected to carry out an independent research project under the guidance of Dr. Oh and will hold joint academic appointments at the Center for Cancer Research, Massachusetts General Hospital and the Department of Medicine, Harvard Medical School. Additionally, our lab is part of an exceptionally collaborative department (https://bit.ly/30vsrLQ), and the candidate will have numerous opportunities to engage with both basic scientists and clinicians. We are located in Charlestown Navy Yard, Boston, Massachusetts.

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and a CV with a list of references to Dr. Oh at eugene.oh@mgh.harvard.edu. Further information can be found at www.ohlabs.org.
