美国麻省理工学院和哈佛大学招收实验研究科学家

Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard

OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experimental research scientist to join the Cleary Lab at the Broad Institute in developing, testing and deploying a new framework for experimental design based on recent mathematical advances.

This effort, led by Broad Fellow Dr. Brian Cleary, will seek to manifest theoretical insights from applied mathematics and computer science in new experimental modalities – in particular the execution of random experiments and composite experiments – to study tissue physiology, cellular pathways, combinatorial interactions, and human genetics.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team in making fundamental advances in experimental biology, and discoveries in the organization and function of tissues, cellular pathways, and the mechanisms of disease. This team will develop and apply technologies combining microscopy and imaging transcriptomics, CRISPR, single-cell measurements, proteomics, and microfluidic automation.

The Cleary Laboratory is a growing, interdisciplinary workplace at the interface of theory, computation and experimentation, and is seeking to hire an exceptional scientist who will work closely with both the Cleary Lab and collaborators throughout the Broad community, MIT, and Harvard.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES

•Lead and collaborate with scientists, postdoctoral and research associates to make fundamental advances in experimental design

•Develop and apply experimental strategies of random composite experiments to functional omics techniques, including single-cell, transcriptomics, proteomics, CRISPR-based assays in human cells and tissues, and in situ omics

•Lead collaborations in the application of new experimental designs to new biological systems and questions

•Design and lead independent projects including developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results

•Make significant contributions to scientific papers, quantitative data analyses and presentations

•Contribute to generation of protocols and data analyses

•Work with multidisciplinary team to achieve project goals

REQUIREMENTS

•Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Cell Biology, Systems Biology or related field

•Additional 0-2+ years of relevant laboratory experience in academic or industry setting

•Strong hands-on experience in molecular biology, genomics, and cellular biology (cell-based assays, primary and cell line culture)

•Proven track record of critical scientific thinking, multi-tasking ability, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills

•Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team with scientists from a wide range of research expertise

The ideal candidate will additionally have one or more of the following qualifications:

•Experience with genome editing tools including CRISPR targeting in various human cell types

•Experience with in situ hybridization, immunostaining, and histopathological imaging

•Experience with microscopy and microfluidic automation

•Experience with culture and manipulation of primary cells

•Experience with quantitative data analysis and proficiency in computational methods and theory
